The Chinese car manufacturer Xpeng has only been active in the German market for about a year and a half, and already more than 3,000 electric cars have been delivered to customers in this country. There are even first facelifts of the Xpeng G6. This is because the models, which already caused a stir in Germany in their predecessor version, have now aged in China. And while at the last IAA Mobility, German manufacturers Mercedes and BMW proudly presented that their charging performance could now keep pace with China, Xpeng went one better and almost doubled the charging performance of its two electric SUVs again – and this with LFP batteries, which are actually considered less capable of fast charging than the environmentally more problematic NMC batteries.
However, the Xpeng not only demonstrates its strengths at fast-charging stations: The vehicle can also be easily operated at AC charging points in everyday use and is fully compatible with modern wallbox solutions such as those from EM2GO. This makes the G6 ideal for convenient and efficient charging at home or at work – a decisive advantage for many e-car drivers.
Probably the strongest argument is that the extensively equipped G6 is priced at a level where many European manufacturers only offer their entry-level variants. For the same money, Xpeng therefore offers significantly more extras. Of course, there are German manufacturers who, apart from the charging technology, sometimes build even better electric cars in terms of chassis and assistance, but at a significantly higher price. Incidentally, despite all the improvements, nothing has changed in the price compared to the previous version – except that the price for the Standard Range now "only" includes 18-inch wheels instead of 20-inch wheels.
